Measuring Cups, Weights and Measures

I have been cooking a lot of late – preparing goodies for our church bake sale at the Pumpkin Patch. I am reminded of watching my grandmother prepare meals and delicacies. She measured some things, but most was done by a pinch of this and a dash of that.  When I began to cook, I relied on standard measurements and still do for things that I do not cook often. However, things I cook on a regular basis can be done by sight and taste.  All this thinking about measures led me to delve into God’s Word about measures.

How do we measure? There is talk of measuring up, weighing possibilities and lengthening experiences.  Today, God talked to me through His Word about measuring.  Let me share with you some of the thoughts and verses.

Love Richly
Let your measure of love be deep and rich. We have been so richly loved that we should love richly in return.
Ephesians 3:16-19

Give Generously

Treat Everyone Fairly
We deny the liberty we have in Christ when we show favoritism. We have been given treatment that we do not deserve. In turn, we must treat others fairly and better than they deserve.
Deuteronomy 25:15

Judge Wisely
Judge or consider wisely.  This involves weighing with the scale of God’s wise love. Judgement will come, but He withholds it in order to bring us into His fold.
