I Saw Jesus Today

I asked God to show me His will for this day. Make the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart acceptable. I asked for Him to direct and order my steps. In His mercy, He showed me Himself in another. He opened my eyes and heart to see what He was doing.

I saw Jesus today. He was a young boy who chose to help others in his class. He was finished with the assignment and helped others get their materials ready. He quietly went from one student to another assisting as needed. He silently served his classmates so they could catch up. He humbly served without recognition. When I questioned him and looked into those deep brown eyes, he said he just didn’t want them to have to carry the activity over to another day. I thanked him for caring and went on my way forever changed by Jesus in young boy disguise. I saw Jesus today.

Christ is to be the center of everything. He is the nucleus around which everything created has its order and purpose. Staying within His will through His grace keeps you in peace and in harmony with His purpose.

There Isn’t Enough

Isn’t that the age old fear? Manna from Heaven fell and was enough for everyone. However, some hoarded it, and it went bad. This was a lesson on trust, depending on God to take care of their needs. When things became tough on the way to the Promised Land, Israel wanted to turn back to the familiar. Eve thought God’s provision wasn’t enough to satisfy, and she went for the forbidden fruit. Isn’t that the age old problem? We desire what we don’t have fearing God won’t really provide what we need. This is sin in its rawest form – lack of trust. This is denying God’s love and intent to work it all for our good.

Trusting in His Plan – Rejoicing In Spite of Circumstances

Habakkuk 3:17-19

17-19Though the cherry trees don’t blossom
and the strawberries don’t ripen,
Though the apples are worm-eaten
and the wheat fields stunted,
Though the sheep pens are sheepless
and the cattle barns empty,
I’m singing joyful praise to God.
I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God.
Counting on God’s Rule to prevail,
I take heart and gain strength.
I run like a deer.
I feel like I’m king of the mountain!

The Message

This is where I should be spiritually, but so often I find myself like the father in Mark 9:24. I need Jesus to help me to believe, to stay strong, to choose His path, to rejoice in Him and Him alone. Sometimes circumstances overwhelm me, like flood waters. I must remember Isaiah 43:2. He promises to be with me and keep me. He does not promise an easy road.

God has a plan and it won’t be thwarted. Rest in the assurance of His purpose. This isn’t a complacent what will be will be with no chance for redemption. No, it is a plan like the Master Gardener, who prunes and moves plants until the whole garden is brimming with His beauty. It is the tapestry that has two sides. One side looks a mess, but the finished piece is gorgeous and tells the Weaver’s story. There is purpose and order even when it appears chaotic for the moment. Trust in His workmanship. We are His prize – His possession – His dear children!
